So, I'm not sure if I've mentioned this yet, but I'm somewhat of a music snob. I guess to some people that could be construed as a negative quality, but I've never seen it that way. I like music, I'm picky, and if you don't like that...then obviously you don't have good music taste. Ha, I sound awesome.
Anyway! One of my weaknesses is a fabulous cover song. They're done all the time, but there are quite a few that stand out. Several months ago I put together a playlist of all my favorites. I called it "Beneath the Covers" because I was feeling creative and cheesy that day. Here it is, folks!

  1. Discovery -- I Want You Back
  2. Save Ferris -- Come On Eileen
  3. Cat Power/Myra Lee -- Sea of Love
  4. Allred -- The District Sleeps Alone Tonight
  5. Pete du Pon -- Basket Case
  6. The Get Up Kids -- Close to Me
  7. The Vitamin String Quartet -- Screaming Infidelities
  8. Obadiah Parker -- Hey Ya
  9. Death Cab for Cutie -- This Charming Man
  10. MoZella -- Say It Isn't So
  11. Tyrone Wells -- Use Somebody
  12. Yael Naim -- Toxic
  13. Natalie Walker -- Colorblind
  14. The Postal Service -- Against All Odds
  15. Ryan Adams -- Wonderwall
  16. Jeff Buckley -- Hallelujah
There you have it. One of the best mixes I've ever made. I have to say my favorite cover on here is without a doubt "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight." This version is watered down to just a guitar and some of the most beautiful harmonies I've ever heard. Perfection. Obadiah's version of Hey Ya by Outkast is absolutely hilarious. He makes that song sound almost like a love song; impressive. And really? Jeff Buckley is a genius. There's not much to say about that cover. It leaves me speechless, and often crying. (I'm a baby.)
If you'd like to know who sang the originals, let me know!
